A large number of motors are being used for general purposes in our surroundings from house-hold equipment to machine tools in industrial facilities. The electric motor is now a necessary and an indispensable source of power in many industries. The functions and the performance required for these motors are wide-ranging. One of the many features often required for these motors is speed control. A popular method for achieving speed control is through phase control i.e. controlling the peak input power supplied to the motor. Triac switching circuits use phase control to vary the peak of voltage and therefore power applied to the load, in this case a motor. This type of AC motor speed control gives full linear control over the motor.
The RE-D-70/230V-DIN is a digital speed controller for use with single phase asynchronous motors. Using the triac speed controller reduces the voltage supplied to the motor making it useful for a wide range of industrial applications where there is a specific need to control the speed of a motor, including AHU’s, Laboratory applications & isolators.
The digital electronic speed controller which displays the delivered voltage, has many benefits over its analogue counterpart which would traditionally require a multimeter to determine actual output voltage. One advantage of the digitally controlled triac is the repeatability of the settings. The tolerances that the on board PCB is able to control the triacs output is much greater than traditional analogue units. This is hugely useful for set and forget applications.
