Forward-Curved Flourish for Luxury British Fashion Brand

With temperatures dropping and the ice back on your windscreens, we thought we’d take you back to warmer times and tell you about a project we supported this summer for the high-end fashion retailer, LK Bennett. Back in July, we supplied fan units to every LK Bennett store in the UK and several European and Asian stores. The chain are well known for their lavish window display which often reference topical events such Wimbledon or the Chelsea Flower Show and the units would play a key role in their summer 2014 campaign. After discussing the project requirements in detail, Axair’s Ecofit engineer, Andrew Jones, specified the Ecofit 2GRE15, 140X59R. The forward curved, single inlet centrifugals were then used to circulate coloured rose petals around a number of bespoke light boxes; creating an impressive visual spectacle and adding an element of movement into an otherwise static display . Forward curved centrifugal fans are typically used for applications such as air filtration, fume control and enclosure ventilation but their stable air flow and impressive controllability made them the ideal for the light boxes.  Ecofit fans feature an external rotor motor which is contained within the fan scroll. This means they are particularly well suited to applications with restricted space considerations as this frees up the area that would generally be occupied by a bulky standard motor. They can also be specified with detachable discharge flanges, meaning that the fan can be installed without using pedestal mounts. Ecofit centrifugals can be easily connected to a transformer or variable voltage controller in order to allow for the simple and efficient speed control of the fan system; consequently saving energy and reducing your costs. LK Bennett was founded in London in 1990 and has since gone on to establish itself as an global luxury fashion brand with stores in over 150 locations worldwide. The Duchess of Cambridge is a well-known fan, as is her sister, Pippa Middleton, and Ed Miliband’s wife, Justine.
