Rolling Back the Years - Axair & AH Motorsports

Back in 2003, we supplied the first of many fans for a rolling road application; supporting AH Motorsports, independent experts in race preparation and race engine building. Set up in 1999 by Adrian Hawkins, AHM are based in Hartley Wintney on the Surrey/Hampshire border and originally specialised in Alfa Romeo, FIAT and Abarth. Business has evolved over the last 16 years and they now support a number of other Italian models along with our very own Aston Martin, the V8 Vantage in particular. Owner Adrian has always been passionate about the illustrious British sports car and has a close relationship with the official Aston Martin Racing Partner Team, TF Sport, so this was a natural progression. AHM offer a range of services including fault finding and diagnostic procedures but tuning upgrades are their specialty. So dedicated are they to performance tuning that they have their own in-house rolling road section. Axair took great care in calculating the airflow and air speed necessary to replicate the same forced air cooling an engine requires when travelling at high speed. We then supplied a large HCT axial fan complete with a purpose designed cone fitted on the fan discharge, to increase the air speed to the right level. We contacted AHM recently and we were very pleased to hear that the fan is still operating, 12 years on, and has helped them to improve the performance, economy and reliability of thousands of client’s cars. This includes Adrian’s very own Alfa Romeo 33, an ex-Italian Touring Car which is capable of producing over 400 bhp and frequently wipes the floor with more powerful cars.
