NIMUS Fans Improve Efficiency and Cost Reduction at UK Biomass Gas Site

The NIMUS range of highly efficient, medium pressure, backward curved, single inlet fans form an integral part of the Storm range produced by Axair’s supply partner, Casals Ventilation.

The Casals Storm range offers an extremely comprehensive range of industrial fans, which also includes material handling fans and high pressure fans with both backward curved and radial blades

The NIMUS and NIMAX range are available with 11 impeller sizes, from diameter 310mm to 1400mm and with motor powers from 0.37kW to 110kW, with airflow to 88,000m3/h and pressures to 3350Pa. The Nimax centrifugal impeller and casing is larger than a Nimus, which increases the performance of the unit.

The range, as standard, incorporates a reinforced housing protected against corrosion by powder coated resin with air handling temperatures to 130°C.  Typical applications include food industry processing, boiler/heating, paint booths plus many other applications and installations. The range is ideally suited to large spaces such as factories or warehouse and is situated at the inlet our outlet of ductwork to provide maximum ventilation.

The range options available on request include ATEX Zone 1 and ATEX Zone 2 (read our guide to ATEX fans here), the fans can also be produced in special finishes such as marine specification, hot dip galvanised or stainless steel in SS304 or SS316. High temperature options are also available with the inclusion of an additional cooling impeller to handle maximum temperatures of 250°C.

Biomass Site

Biomass Case Study

When Axair supplied two of its highly efficient fans in the NIMUS range into a large UK Biomass gas site the aim was to improve system efficiency and cost reduction. The fans were fitted with 75kW motors along with matching inverters and were required to provide both ventilation and combustion air to the process and site. Accurate and reliable airflow, plus controllability, were key to the efficient running of the site. The Storm NIMUS fans were installed with full confidence and have proved to be the correct product for this application. Axair are familiar with supplying industrial fans for use within renewable energy generation and continue to handle a large amount of Biomass fan enquiries.
