In May last year, we told you about the inspirational actions of Jamie-Leigh
Dobson, the daughter of Axair Fan’s Warehouse Manager, Jim Dobson, who shaved her head to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

12-year-old Jamie-Leigh was already talking about her next fundraising event back then and she stayed true to her word, this time taking on the toiling task of climbing Mount Snowdon.  At 3,560 ft, Mount Snowdon is the highest mountain in Wales; with its summit the highest point in the British Isles, outside of Scotland. A trek to the mountain peak is no easy feat and even the more leisurely routes can take 7 or 8 hours to complete, there and back.

Supported by her somewhat hesitant dad, Jamie-Leigh completed the climb in July and as a result raised a further £820. This was purely down to her fantastic sponsorship efforts and she has now raised close to £3,000 for the world leading charity. Last year she was nominated for a local community award that honours individuals for their charitable efforts and dad Jim couldn’t be prouder: “She’s just an absolute inspiration, her enthusiasm and passion for the cause are just amazing. We’ve never asked her to do any of this, it’s all been off her own back and I’m so proud of her.”

This is the 3rd successive year that Jamie-Leigh has raised money for Cancer Research UK.  Spurred on by her granddad’s brave recovery from the illness in 2012 she has now undertaken the Snowdon climb, the charity head
shaves a 5K Race for Life. Determined Jamie-Leigh has no plans to slow
down with her incredible efforts and is already planning
something special for 2015, watch this space!
