To put it simply, ozone is activated oxygen. It occurs naturally in the environment and is around us all the time. It’s composed of three oxygen atoms, is blue in colour and has a strong odour. But, how can we use it?
Ozone works as a natural cleaner. When presented to an odour, there is a chemical reaction which results in a non-odorous, harmless substance. Not only does it remove the odour, but it also eliminates bacteria, leaving the area sanitised and hygienic.
Ozone generating products use a fan to emit the gas, which is useful for several applications. Various care homes, hotels, manufacturing facilities, offices, supermarkets, speciality cleaning services and even hospitals are now using ozone cleaners to increase their facilities’ hygiene. Ozone generators are particularly efficient for sanitising ambulances due to the ability to complete a full cleaning cycle in under 15-minutes. It has the ability to clean a large room within 15miniutes and has five different time settings to suit the varying levels of room sizes and amount of odour in a room.
Ozone generators have many advantages such as being mobile, which makes cleaning different rooms easy. Also, the cleaning process is far quicker than traditional cleaning methods. These traditional methods are not only time consuming but use a lot of different cleaning products. Reducing the usage of these products also reduces carbon footprint, as well as the cost. There are, however, varying preconceptions with ozone – many people don’t even know what it is. There are two types of ozone, ‘good’ and ‘bad’. The ‘bad’ is the main ingredient found in urban smog and is harmful to both humans and plants. ‘Good’ ozone is found in the stratosphere and protects us from the sun’s UV rays. This ozone is created and used to eliminate odours and kill bacteria. As a relatively unknown subject, and with advancing technology, people are bound to be quite sceptical.
